Fiction I get.
Fan fiction - what's the line between that and fiction?
Is it simply a derivative work?

So fair do's, fan fiction is a derivative work.
The Eve fan base is much brighter than usual and there is a lot more fan fiction than is usually present in most MMO's. So what purpose does it fulful within Eve?
Gak it took three posts to work out what I was originally trying to say. Apologies for that one. |

*Reads thread* Oh, erm, nevermind.
That's one kind of fan fiction, but does fan fiction in Eve serve to reinforce the overall "feeling" of the universe? How many people read it? Why is it read? What's the point for you?
Hmm I'm making this a moving target. |

I for one simply can't wait for the current trend of writers to snuff it. This will make space for me soon enough, and I will be published to buggery.
Fan fiction is a most needed commodity, as EVE's writers will also die with their content going with them. So new writers must be found to keep the stocks up. You never know, maybe Verone will one day be approached by CCP and asked to make some story lines for missions for a new expansion. you just never know...
Fan fiction as an interview for mission design? Interesting. |

It would be the mother of all Fan Fiction competitions.
And, perhaps from a marketing point of view... if you get my drift : )
Is that the sole point of fan fiction? Eve's got an abundance of fan fiction, surely not all of it is to fulfil the role of "interview for level design"?
